A Better You on Purpose

Instructions & Content:

Read this page completely, first. Pace yourself with these studies.  This is a personal journey. Position yourself to hear from the Lord as you study.  Write down what you feel the Lord is saying to you. Date all your writings and find a place of quietness.  Start each study session with the prayer.

  1. Say the prayer before each study time.
  2. Meditate on the scriptures; at least 1 per week. Research the word(s) that may stand out to you.
  3. Ask God to show you, You. Be willing to look deep within for the junk that has been forgotten about and of what you see in yourself regularly, i.e. anger, stress, abuse, sarcasm, forgiveness, slothfulness and the inability to show love.  Take your time.  You did not come to a place of discontentment in one day.
  4. Ask God for revelation for your marriage concerning the scriptures you’re working on.
  5. At the end of your studies review all scriptures and determine which one you need to mediate on for 1 month, daily. Take your time with the entire process.  God continues to work on you and with you.
  6. Assess where you feel you are now (before your studies begin) and write them down using examples from item #3. Once you have completed your studies assess yourself again.  The growth you will encounter is a life long journey.  One step at a time.
  7. Humble yourself. Your faith in God and yourself will determine your outcome. YOU HAVE THE VICTORY!

These exercises are very personal.  Put the scriptures you are meditating on around the house, on your cell phone, at work, etc.

As you seek the Lord for growth within, the enemy will try to intervene, constantly.  The enemy will try to catch you off guard.  It’s okay.  Continue to call on the Lord.  It is the tricks of the enemy to break up your marriage and to destroy the commitment made with you, your spouse and the covenant with God. You have the victory over all things.  James 4:7 (NIV) 7 “Submit you, then, to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

The trials and tribulations will only bring you closer to the Lord as you continue to call on Him.  It is part of the process. It’s growth in Him!

Prayer – Lord I ask in the name of Jesus to give me guidance and wisdom into your Word to become a better me.  “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful”, Psalm 139:14 NIV.  I confess I will show up a better person and it will overflow into my marriage.  Help me to focus on myself, totally, and not my spouse for what he/she may or may not be doing.  I give you all the glory Lord and thank you for your grace and mercy for showing me who I am in you. Amen.
